What documents should I bring with me to France?

What is an ID, identification document?

Your passport or driver's licence can be used to prove your identity in France. Check the practical info page for other useful documents.
 


What is proof of income?

It can be:
  • A scholarship certificate ("attestation de bourse") outlining the amount and the duration
  • Salary pay slips if you were/are employed
  • If your parents are supporting you financially, a signed statement giving the amounts of your monthly allowance
  • A bank statement showing that you have enough funds to pay for your studies

What size should identity photos be in France?

Unless the photo is for a passport, ID photos have to be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
